making change happen in 2024

As the CEO of LA PIPA IS LA PIPA and Bedrock - Humanised Intelligence, I am happy about our inclusion in the list of companies reshaping the industry by startup news magazines lately. These recognitions hold special significance for us in this challenging year when it has been particularly difficult to stay motivated and navigate changes to stay on the unique path we have chosen in the global Data Science, Innovation, and change management market.

Both LA PIPA IS LA PIPA and Bedrock - Humanised Intelligence have been steadfast in our commitment to independence. Unlike many companies in our sector, we are not backed by venture capital. This decision stems from a deep-seated belief in nurturing our vision, strategy, and beliefs without external pressures or influences that often accompany VC funding. We are professional services companies, not product development startups. and we are in this game for the long term and don’t want to focus on a 5-year exit strategy, but on doing outstanding work with our clients, that delivers a unique, taylor made advantage to them.

In other words, we are trying to build a real, meaningful business that doesn’t jump on the latest hype, and that can truly help its clients deal with structural changes and decisions that will shape the future of their businesses and society, and that therefore demand trust and long-term relationships

This independence is necessary for us to maintain a laser focus on our core values and to innovate in ways that are true to our original mission. It means competing in the global market organically, relying on the investments made by our founder, loans, R&D grants, and the funds generated through our own business activities. This approach, which is of course very challenging, remains fundamental in allowing us to stay true to our ideas and forge a path that is uniquely ours.

The Challenge of Defending Unconventional Views

Choosing this path of organic growth and independence is at times overwhelming. Without the trust and commitment of a very small group of close colleagues, friends, and family, (and the unconditional support I get from my other half - Dory), its challenges would have already blown us out of the water.

Advocating for ideas that are ahead of the market, especially those that defy conventional wisdom, requires resilience and conviction. There are many moments when our beliefs and strategies are met with skepticism, and mockery, and times when the temptation of giving up and going for the easier path to conform to industry norms and easier ways forward, is hard to resist.

However, the recognition from several international portals and specialized press in the last weeks serves as a powerful affirmation of our approach. It validates the hard work and dedication of our core teams and reinforces our belief in the value of pursuing innovation on our own terms.

The Importance of Recognition

In an industry that often prioritizes rapid growth, scalability, and exit strategies, our inclusion in international lists of “top companies to watch” or “top companies reshaping the industry” is a testament to the mid to long-term viability and impact of an alternative approach to business and technological innovation. It demonstrates that there is space and indeed a need for companies that prioritize their vision and values over conventional technology / digital start-up metrics of success over the last 2 decades.

Recognition is incredibly meaningful. It's a nod to our journey of staying independent, self-funded, and committed to our ideals. It encourages us to continue on our path of organic growth, constantly innovating and challenging the status quo, while remaining true to the principles that define us.

So from here, I wanted to say thanks to those journalists out there who are following our work and reiterate that we are grateful for these international acknowledgments, which give us strength to remain dedicated to making a significant impact in the fields of machine learning, AI, Post Digital Marketing & Media, and creative innovation.

People, Planet, Purpose

Thanks for reading.
